Cookie Policy
Last updated June 17, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how MetricFly uses cookies and similar technologies — both on our own website (metricfly.app) and in the analytics script our customers install. We are deliberately light on cookies: we don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
01. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. “First-party” cookies are set by the site you visit; “third-party” cookies are set by another domain. Similar technologies include localStorage, which we use to remember preferences.
02. Cookies on metricfly.app
- Session / authentication — strictly necessary cookies that keep you signed in to your dashboard.
- Theme preference — a small localStorage value (
metricfly-theme) remembering light/dark mode. Not used for tracking. - Stripe — when you reach checkout, Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention and payment security.
03. The MetricFly tracking script
When a customer installs MetricFly on their website, our script sets a single first-party cookie, _df_vid, to recognise a returning visitor and attribute revenue to its original source. This cookie:
- is set on the customer’s own domain, not shared across sites;
- contains a random identifier — no name, email or ad profile;
- is never sold or used for cross-site advertising.
A cookieless mode is available, in which case no visitor cookie is set at all and a customer may not need a cookie banner for analytics.
04. Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop you from signing in. Visitors to customer sites should consult that site’s own cookie notice.
05. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the Service evolves. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version. Questions? Email privacy@metricfly.app.
